In this expanded edition of In the Socratic Tradition (1997) Kasachkoff adds new sections on teaching philosophy with computers, teaching philosophical explanation, and teaching philosophy of gender. Practical philosophy includes all philosophical issues related to human agency, institutions, practices and values – morality and politics are often in focus of practical philosophical inquiry. Theoretical philosophy is usually defined in terms of the topics it covers. Theoretical philosophy is sometimes confused with analytic philosophy, but the latter is a philosophical movement, embracing certain ideas and methods but dealing with all philosophical subject matters, while the former is a way of sorting philosophical questions into two different categories in the context of a curriculum.
